Where the boat takes you
Every route is shaped by the sea on the day, but these are the coves, islands, and swim stops we come back to most often around Krk and the Kvarner bay.
Plavnik & the Blue Cave
Just across the channel from Krk lies Plavnik, a wild, uninhabited island whose cliffs hide the famous Blue Cave. Around midday, light bent through an underwater opening turns the rock and water electric blue. When the sea allows, we anchor by the entrance for a swim stop — the most photographed moment of the route.
Golden Beach
About 45 minutes from Krk harbour, Golden Beach is named for the way sunlight catches its gold-toned rock. The water is clear, calm, and easy to swim in — the classic first swim stop of a private boat tour from Krk, and a relaxed spot for snorkelling and floating.
Oprna Bay
Oprna is one of the finest beaches on the island of Krk, set below steep slopes in a quiet cove near Stara Baška and easiest to reach by boat. Sheltered water, a pale pebble bottom, and good visibility make it a favourite snorkelling break away from the busier beaches.
Kormati Island
A small, bare island on the coastal route, known for its seagull colony. We slow down and drift while the gulls circle the boat, then anchor beside deep blue water and rocky inlets for a swim in complete quiet — no roads, no crowds, just sea.
Cres & the griffon vultures
Across the channel from Plavnik rises the east coast of Cres — steep limestone cliffs where some of the last griffon vultures in Croatia nest. On calm days we cruise beneath the colony and watch the huge birds ride the thermals. Wild coastline, no settlements, and glass-clear water all summer.
Goli Otok
The "bare island" east of Krk is famous for its former prison and its bright, moon-like shoreline. On the quieter eastern route we cruise its coast, share a little of its unusual history, and stop for a swim in one of its empty rocky coves.
Prvić Island
Steep, wild, and completely uninhabited, Prvić rises from the channel between Krk and Rab. Seabirds nest along its cliffs, and the narrow passage below them is one of the most dramatic stretches of water in the Kvarner — a stop for groups who want the sea entirely to themselves.
Dolphins of the Kvarner
A resident population of bottlenose dolphins lives in the Kvarner bay, and the channel between Krk, Plavnik, and Cres is where we cross paths with them most often. We never chase and never promise a sighting — but when they choose to ride the bow wave, it makes the whole day.
